Had a great time.  The workshops, the performances and the jamming were really inspiring.   The organization was top notch.  My only concern was that the vendors seemed like an after-thought.  It would have been nice to have a dedicated area for the vendors (that was secure), rather than requesting that we meet them in their cabins. I can't wait for 2011! Uke On, Mike

Thank You all for these wonderful days! It was a longer journey coming all the way from Germany for "only 5 days" but it came out to become "memories i will never forget"! Perfect music and a very warm welcome for a foreigner (who felt like being at home). A little feedback for the workshops: Better preperation of the handouts (All in one pack) and a clear idea about which tone (D or C) will save much time! Tommy

The saddest thing I've had to do recently was to say goodbye to all the new friends I made at the Ceilidh(did I spell it correctly). It was my 2nd and I am impressed at how well organized you are. Martin, I thank you for all you do. Dan, I thank you for the way you conducted the "open mic". It was my 1st and I was scared out of my mind. You were very kind to me and I will have more confidence as a result of you thoughtfulness.

This was our first Nova Scotia Ceilidh.  Having attended several other ukulele festivals, this one exceeded our expectations!!  We had so much fun and really enjoyed meeting so many new people and having the opportunity to introduce Ohana ukuleles to the east coast.  Everyone was so friendly, the venue was perfect and the workshops and concerts were superb.  We can't wait to come again in two years!  Finally, we'd like to thank the organizers for all of their hard work!

Wow - what a ceilidh.  Huge thanks to everyone for making it an experience to remember.  This was the 3rd ceilidh and it felt like a wonderful family reunion.  Good friends, good music, good food, good weather (mostly!), good times and super memories.

However it now looks on the cards for 2009. I will be travelling with two of my best buddies in the world, Mel Collie and Steve Penny.  Look forward to meeting and struming along with all of you.

This is just a helpful hint to those who are wondering about how to get from Halifax airport to Liverpool.
Firstly, the roads are unbelievably quiet and unhurried.  Driving is a breeze - and if you rent a car you will be able to take a little look at this beautiful province while you are here.
Secondly, if you post your arrival/departure times on the facebook page for the event (or on this guest book), you may be able to join forces with other ukesters arriving around the same time.
And thirdly, there are shuttle services running from the airport to the south shore:
Shuttles:
Shuttle #1 runs a service to Liverpool from/to Halifax airport. Contact: Tel 354 4268 or 646 1178.
There is also: http://www.thecloudnineshuttle.com/ which runs the length of the south shore stopping at points along the way.

I cannot vouch for these services - jut passing on the info.

So looking forward to seeing you all again, Sue

The festival sounds great fun. Our ukulele club Mainely Ukulele hopes to get to the festival this October. We are mostly located in S. Brooksville, Maine. Just got our site up. Go to tinderhearth.org and see events then scroll down to see the club website and beginner lessons this July.

Howdy, ukulele lovers!  So nice to view your site today.  I'm preparing to organize a Ukulele Ceilidh here in Vermont, a small first event for sure.  I envision ukulele lovers from this area and beyond coming together for a wonderful day of ukulele sharing and good food, perhaps once every three months, (one each season!)  Would love to connect with someone who could mentor me in ideas of how to do this, and perhaps develop a kind of lovely connection between our ukulele groups, ours being the 'Vermont Ukulele Society'.  Thanks for any help here.  In love of all things ukuele, Jennifer Vyhnak, founder and member of Vermont Ukulele Society.
P.S.  I believe all things ukulele are good medicine in these challenging times.  Also, ukulele playing each day keeps the doctor away.
