Do you want to know the truth about the ukulele? Be in Liverpool October 22-25, 2009, and all will be revealed! Workshops at beautiful White Point Beach Resort, concerts at the historic Astor Theatre, and much more await you.
First, the workshops: 21 sessions to choose from, covering all skill levels. Learn from the best! Among the many instructors, returning for his 3rd Ceilidh, will be J. Chalmers Doane, the father of Canadian ukulele.
Second, the concerts: three evenings that will have you leaving the theatre saying, “I didn’t know the ukulele could sound like that!” Among the performers will be James Hill, one of North America’s top players, and British Columbia’s Langley Ukulele Ensemble will be back to delight you with everything from Bach to the Beatles. Juno Award winner Melanie Doane will make her second appearance.
The truth is, the humble uke is enjoying a resurgence in popularity, and you can be part of that. There will be music all around the town - open mike, jam sessions and restaurant performers will create a real buzz.
